About LinguaPlan
Welcome to LinguaPlan. This platform was created by a dedicated team of language coaches, linguists, and educational developers who realized that standard study schedules are often unrealistic. We wanted to build a precise, mathematical study planner to help English learners calculate their timelines objectively.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help language learners plan their studies with clarity and realistic benchmarks. By combining CEFR proficiency levels with FSI linguistic proximity research and study method efficiency data, we provide a data-backed study planner that helps users set achievable goals.
Methodology & Standards
Our calculator processes language acquisition timelines based on established academic research:
- CEFR Guided Hours: Base study timelines are calibrated using Cambridge ESOL guided learning hour standards.
- Linguistic Proximity: We incorporate the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) language categorization index to account for native language differences.
- Study Efficiency Multipliers: Study speeds are adjusted based on the cognitive efficiency of different study methods (immersive courses, tutoring, or casual self-study).
We believe that language acquisition is a journey of consistency, not cramming. Providing transparent, data-backed roadmaps helps you build realistic study habits that stick.
